What is your history with the Adopt-A-Stream Program? How many years have you participated? Number of volunteers involved over the years?

"We are new to the Adopt-A-Stream program. (This is our first year participating)"

Why did your group decide to join the Adopt-A- Stream Program?

"I received an email about it and decided it sounded like JUST the sort of thing our Builders Club would like to be part of!"

What do you find to be most rewarding as an Adopt-A-Stream Steward?

"In 5th grade, our students are taken on a field trip to visit a few of our town’s parks.  During this trip, the kids are taught about the importance of keeping the areas in and around our streams clean and free of debris.  They are given details about how the water is tested throughout the year and how things as simple as grass clippings and natural debris could have a negative affect on the cleanliness and usability of our water sources. Now that they’ve advanced to the middle school, I think being part of the Adopt-A-Stream program gives the students a way to take what they’ve learned and put that experience into action in an ongoing and sustainable way.  AND, it’s a great way to serve our community."

Any memorable stories to share from past cleaning events?

"The smiles on their faces in the attached pictures share a much better story than I can.  Thanks for giving us a chance to be part of this program.  We are hoping to continue to make a positive impact for many years in the future."
