Palouse Alternative Cropping Symposium 2

When: Thursday, February 27 2020 10am - 4pm

Where: Gladish Community and Cultural Center - View Room (3rd floor) - Pullman, WA

Farmers across the globe are exploring options to modify their cropping practices to achieve soil health and the suite of added benefits—all while striving to maintain farm profits. Palouse-area farmers are trying a variety of strategies, some with varying levels of success. Common goals include diversifying revenues, keeping nutrients in the field, and building life in the soil.

This symposium will be a series of farmer-to-farmer presentations with a strong focus on networking because conversations are key. Growers from throughout the Palouse region will share practical experiences with other growers. Presentations will address the following:

  • cover crops for weed control

  • cover crops and economics

  • soil testing to monitor improvements

  • monitoring soil water relationships under cover crops

  • cover crops as a livestock forage base

  • adding livestock grazing: investing in infrastructure

You won't want to miss this unique event. The program will feature:

  • short presentations from area growers

  • plenty of time for Q&A with the speakers

  • extended networking breaks to provide opportunities for informal dialogue and catching up with your community

  • a resource tabling event staffed by knowledgeable professionals with tools to aid in making decisions

  • complimentary lunch (thanks to our great sponsors!)
